Background

BACKGROUND

Attended Reading Boys Grammar School from 2006-2013. Sports lover from an early age and played a range of different sports including football. Still a big Reading FC supporter. A keen skier, although fewer chances to ski now! Currently studying Biological Sciences at Birmingham University. Also a lover of the computer game FIFA!

In December 2015 Jonny won the European U23 Cross-Country Championships in Hyères, France, becoming Britain’s first-ever individual gold medallist in this event.

Who is your sporting hero?

Seb Coe – I also have a similar build to him! Also, Chris Froome for his recent performances in the Tour De France and the way he puts everything into his races.

How did you get involved in competitive running?

Won a number of school races at the beginning of secondary school. A friend and fellow member of Reading AC Daniel Brock invited me down to the club in 2009. Gradually started to train and compete more and picked up a few good results. From here running started to take running more seriously and invest more time in it!

What are your goals for 2016?

Qualify for the British 5000m team for Rio
