Background

Having achieved some race good results in his native Kenya, Vincent made his first trip to the UK in spring 2015.

His first race was the Chester Half Marathon, which took place on a cold and windy day. Running alone almost from the start, Vincent crossed the line in 1:02.21, particularly impressive given the inclement conditions. This time improved the course record by more than two minutes.

Vincent maintained his good form through to the autumn 2015 season. He won the Worcester 10km in mid-September in both a personal best time and a course record. Later that month, he finished second in the Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon in 1:02:36, seconds behind Run-Fast team mate Morris Gachaga. Just one week later, he won the hilly Basingstoke Half Marathon in resounding style, finishing almost seven minutes clear of the second finisher.

Given his recent performances and his continuing progress, it should only be a matter of time before he achieves his goal of a sub-62 half marathon. With that will come numerous opportunities to compete in some of the best road races in Europe.

Vincent is already planning his first assault on the full marathon distance in late 2017 or early 2018.
