Weekend Race Roundup: 1st May 2016

The Run-Fast Birmingham squad were in fine form over the Bank Holiday weekend, pulling out great performances at the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Championships at Bedford International Stadium. This outdoor athletics event is one of the most eagerly anticipated for top level student athletes around the country.

Jonathan Davies and Pippa Woolvern both came away with gold medals; Davies winning 5000m comfortably in 14:26 and Woolvern the 2000m steeple case in 6:43. Ben Waterman also had a good performance in a competitive 800m final, where he finished 2nd in 1:49. Jonny Hopkins also had an impressive win, taking the 3000m steeplechase title in 8:47, making him the 3rd fastest Brit for the event so far this year.

Run-Fast athletes on the International Team also showed good form over in Canada, where Chris Cheruiyot and Lenah Jerotich both came 2nd in the Vancouver Half Marathon in 1:05:45 and 1:15:49 respectively.
